About Dr. Isolina Ricci
Internationally known family expert Isolina Ricci is considered one of the top professionals in the field of divorce, single parenting, shared custody, and today's "new family." Her book for parents, MOM'S HOUSE, DAD'S HOUSE: The Complete Guide for Parents Who Are Separated, Divorced, or Remarried, has been considered the "bible" by two generations of divorced and single parents, and has been selling briskly for more than 25 years and 45 printings. She has inspired two generations of parents and families with her message that they can bring strength and dignity to their families, regardless of whether they are still together, separated, divorced, or remarried. She is known for her compassionate, sometimes humorous, step-by-step approach that makes complex issues understandable and provides straightforward, wise, and comprehensive options.
Dr. Ricci, who herself successfully raised five children as a single parent, has more than 30 years of rich experience that uniquely qualifies her as a forward-looking family expert. Her extensive work with parents and families as a therapist and educator is well known in clinical and legal circles. She is one of the first to insist that fathers as well as mothers had a central role in their child's development after separation and divorce. She helped pioneer family and custody mediation, a better family law vocabulary, and educational programs for parents including divorce adjustment, meeting children's needs, and ways for parents to work together to share parenting with a business like approach. Her background includes distinguished programs for professionals through universities and professional organizations and research on divorce. For 15 years she was responsible for a series of nationally respected and emulated statewide programs and services for families going through all the family courts in California. Many of her pioneering concepts, put forth in the original MOM'S HOUSE, DAD'S HOUSE (1980, 1997), have become accepted standards. Her latest book is MOM'S HOUSE, DAD'S HOUSE FOR KIDS: Feeling at home in one home or two .
Dr. Ricci writes for both the professional and popular press and has appeared on numerous radio and TV shows. She received her doctorate from Stanford University, is a Rockefeller Bellagio Scholar, a licensed marriage and family therapist, lecturer, and educator.
